POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has responsibility for leading the development and delivery of SICK Canada’s quality management system (QMS) standards to meet customer requirements and to strive to exceed customer expectations. In addition, the role is responsible for safety program development, implementation, maintenance, and policy compliance. The role reports to the Client Service Fulfilment Manager and requires active engagement with the entire business to promote a culture of quality and safety awareness.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Quality Management Responsibilities:

Knowledge and application of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system standards in engineering or manufacturing environment including: maintenance of quality manual, procedures and work instructions, lead internal auditor role, schedule and conduct internal and external audits, initiate and track corrective action requests and prevented action requests, manage specification/document control, schedule and conduct management reviews, interface with 3rd party auditor, and perform other duties as required by quality procedures.

  1. Knowledge and application of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system standards in engineering or manufacturing environment including: maintenance of quality manual, procedures and work instructions, lead internal auditor role, schedule and conduct internal and external audits, initiate and track corrective action requests and prevented action requests, manage specification/document control, schedule and conduct management reviews, interface with 3rd party auditor, and perform other duties as required by quality procedures.
  2. Manage processes and their interrelations as a system to achieve quality objectives effectively and efficiently. Preparation and technical writing of documents such as Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Specifications, Process Maps, Work Instructions, etc.
  3. Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes that strive to exceed customer expectations.
  4. Collaborate with Customer Service team on customer complaint process and data collection to monitor the levels of satisfaction of our customers. Work with Project Services and Field Services to implement corrective/preventative action plans to improve the effectiveness of our QMS.
  5. Understand and apply root cause analysis (5 Why's, FMEA, etc.). Conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIR’s) as requested by management and present results to team.
  6. Has understanding and awareness of internal processes and the need for continuous improvement and actively leads continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Manage supplier pre-qualification systems to ensure compliance.
  1. Safety Management Responsibilities:

  1. Provide advice, guidance, and support on occupational health and safety program, including the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  2. Ensure compliance with all health and safety laws, regulations, and standards.
  3. Ensure compliance to ISN health, safety, environmental, and quality standards to sustain a fully satisfactory rating for all employees. This is achieved by ensuring all employees have the competencies, training, and qualifications required to perform their job duties at customer premises and these artifacts are registered with ISN and kept in satisfactory standing.
  4. Develop and manage leading indicators for measuring health and safety performance (ie safety management systems, manuals and training, safety audits, employee interviews) to sustain our qualification and satisfactory rating with Avetta.
  5. Ensures on customer site hazard analysis is assessed and risks mitigated in coordination with engineering, project management and human resources.
  6. Analyze data, including accidents and incident reports, for trends and recommend and implement changes to correct for unsafe conditions and actions.
  7. Administer all vendor credentialing relationships including on-line document and training requirements (iCAB, Insurance, WCB reporting, H&S program/policies, etc.).
  8. Payment processing of all invoices for third party vendor memberships.
  9. Annual review and update health and safety program.
  10. Participate in workplace investigations as necessary.
  11. Participate actively as a member with various safety associations relevant to manufacturing industry.
  12. Conduct safety audits and assessments as required to ensure compliance to regulations and standards.
  13. Collaborate with Human Resources Learning & Development in the identification, development, and delivery of health and safety training for employees.
  14. Co-lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee including monthly meeting, document minutes and action registrar.
  15. Acts as an advocate for safety and promotes awareness of policies and best practices across the company.
  16. Manage new insurance certificate requests and renewals.
  17. Lead efforts to obtain ISO 45001 certification.
  18. Regular attendance and timeliness.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required. Work hours may include on-call, nights and weekends as needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 Education: 

  • Post-Secondary Degree (business, quality management, environmental engineering or related) preferred,
  • Certified Management Representative, Ontario
  • Workplace Investigation Certificate completed or in process preferred

Experience:

  • ISO auditing experience and knowledge or ability to learn and be able to perform quality evaluations.
  • Quality Management System knowledge and experience in a manufacturing or service industry.
  • Knowledge of quality management principles and understanding of the application of these principles in a manufacturing or service industry.
  • Safety experience and knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards (OSHA, OSI 45001) in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to prepare and deliver presentations to management team and for training purposes.
  • Experience in global manufacturing organization
  • Training or facilitation experience an asset

Computer Skills:

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft, Internet and on-line vendor systems (ISN, AVETTA, BROWZ, ComplyWorks, WSIB, etc.)

                Math Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
