POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Project Services will be an experienced leader who has several years of experience managing professional services teams, specifically project managers. The Manager of Project Services will have created management structures, processes and controls, either as a leader of a project management team within a manufacturing organization, or as a leader of service delivery teams in the service industry. The ideal candidate will have had past success in leadership, coaching and development of people, and exceeding customer expectations.

The Manager of Project Services will be the leader for project management functions at SICK Ltd. (Canada) and will consequently ensure that their team aligns with management direction. The scale, structure, and budget of the team will be a responsibility assigned to the Manager of Project Services who will support SICK Ltd growth and add capabilities in employees, processes, or technologies.

The Manager of Project Services will be the leader of an operational team and will demonstrate an ability and willingness to help team leaders and individual team members achieve their goals and objectives, while simultaneously meeting or beating company KPIs. The manager will establish departmental goals and KPIs so that the team continues to operate at a high performance level and is meaningfully contributing to the SICK Ltd goals.

The Manager of Project Services will also be a point of contact and support for our customers and will need to demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of the customer journey.

The role reports to the Client Service Fulfilment Manager and requires active engagement with the entire business to promote a culture of trust, collaboration, and competency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Project Services Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of project managers and coordinators, inspiring effective teamwork, motivating, mentoring, and challenging them towards their success and the success of our customers.
  2. Maintain and create/augment processes, procedures, and controls to ensure projects delivered on time. Create a reporting cadence and structure that is sustainable, scalable, and efficient.
  3. Assigns appropriate resources based on project value, complexity, risk, visibility, and resource experience.
  4. Provide professional direction, coaching and support employee growth for all direct reports.
  5. Able to create, manage and report on resource capacity/utilization, and create proactive trigger points for resource augmentation with internal/external partners.
  6. Lead and present as a member of SICK Ltd management team at onsite meetings, training sessions, project kick-offs and other engagements with customers.
  7. Develop the business through participation in contract preparation and pre-sales support.
  8. Formulate and deliver concise communications (written and oral) with internal (Account/Sales Managers) and external customers.
  9. Creation, management and reporting on KPIs, including the ability to adjust KPIs with the progression of performance and expectations of our customers.
  10. Analyze, triage, and then proactively resolve project delivery issues with appropriate suppliers and partners (internal and external). Overcome project delivery obstacles and adjusting as needed to stay on course.
  11. Continuously innovates and improve processes, driving down costs and project delivery time.

Quality Management System Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all project management processes and systems are effective, measured, and continuously improved for compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
  2. Collaborate and support the Quality Assurance Specialist on advancement of our quality management system.

Safety Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct safety audits and assessments as required for the project services integration build facility to ensure compliance to regulations and standards.
  2. Collaborate with Human Resources Learning & Development in the identification, development, and delivery of health and safety training for employees.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. A passion for customer experience and continuous improvement.
  2. A Bachelor degree from an accredited university or the equivalent knowledge and experience or professional training is required.
  3. 3+ years experience in a customer facing leadership position as a people manager.
  4. Minimum of five years experience in project management focused on system and application implementations. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferable or ability to acquire.
  5. Industrial automation and industry 4.0 experience/knowledge in process automation (power, cement, refining, chemical, petrochemical, etc), logistics automation (courier, airports, retail, etc), or factory automation would be desirable .
  6. Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate employees, both on-site and remote employees.
  7. Experience with change management practices and able to adjust and pivot fluidly.
  8. Excellent communicator and people skills.
  9. Understanding/knowledge of sales processes.
  10. Knowledge and familiarity with modern project management methods and practices including scrum and agile and support applications (ie JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint).
  11. Ability to do some light travel 10-15% mostly domestic with our clients in Canada.
  12. Must have a valid drivers license in Ontario.
