POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing an epic customer experience through installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and training of SICK products and systems.  You will interface with customers both inside and outside the organization offering technical expertise regarding our products and services in a variety of industries.

This position is also responsible for providing product and technical support to the SICK Canada strategic industry teams, distributors, and integrators.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical support to the SICK direct sales teams, distributors, and customers through telephone conversations and written communication.
  • Respond, manage, and resolve escalated technical support issues.
  • Travel to customer sites to evaluate customer applications, and solve technical challenges in collaboration with sales team members.
  • Use CRM system for all customer and sales process data to ensure proper documentation and retention.
  • Apply standard diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate root cause analysis, and recommend solutions.
  • Provide training through various means such as online, classroom, or in the field, for both internal and external users.
  • Work with sales team to perform analysis of application samples and provide reports to make product recommendations.
  • Review and submit technical support documents, application solutions, incl BOM, FAQ’s, and other supporting material.
  • Review and assist with recommendations for product and solution trials and demonstrations.
  • Assist to create and review training and sales support materials. Collaborate with other team members.
  • Setup and maintain the FA Lab at SICK Canada.
  • Assist in the design, management, development, and construction of demonstration equipment to maximize the quality and quantity of product exposure.
  • Present updates on projects to SICK team members, proactively request input on important decisions.
  • Provide trade show support as necessary.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary technical diploma/degree or equivalent work experience
  • Certification in a technical discipline is preferred (C. Tech., C.E.T.).
  • 0-3 years of experience in industrial automation or business to business technical customer support preferred.
  • Technical knowledge in industrial bus network communication and data capture systems.
  • Knowledge in industrial communication methods and diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of networking, wireless communication, cloud storage, software coding and cybersecurity.

Other Qualifications:

  • Written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively interface with individuals both inside and outside the organization from a technical perspective regarding SICK products.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), AutoCAD and internet applications (CRM).
  • Read, interpret, utilize AutoCAD LT dimensional, electrical and block drawings.
  • Able to problem solve with internal and external customers.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the role.
  • Able to expand technical knowledge.
  • Able and willing to work alternative schedules including weekend, and on-call hours as required.
  • Legally permitted to work within Canada.
  • Able to work in a general office environment.
